Description: This feature class/shapefile contains locations of child day care centers for the 50 states of the USA, Washington D.C., and Puerto Rico. This dataset was named as Day Care Centers in previous version but has been renamed as Child Day Care Centers as it represents locations of day care centers where only children are taken care of. Also in this version any information contained in the ADDRESS2 field found in earlier versions of this dataset has been merged with the ADDRESS field and the ADDRESS2 field has been deleted. The CNTY_FIPS and the STATE_FIPS fields found in earlier versions have been deleted due to redundancy as the dataset has a COUNTYFIPS field. The dataset only includes center based child day care locations (including those located at schools and religious institutes) and does not include group, home, and family based child day cares. The SOURCE_DATE is an indicator of when the source data was last acquired or was publicly available. All the data was acquired from respective states departments or their open source websites and only contains data provided by these sources. Information on the source of data for each state is available in the SOURCE field of the feature class/shapefile. The TYPE attribute is a common categorization of child day care centers for all states which categorizes every child day care into Center Based, School Based, Head Start, or Religious Facility solely based on the type of facility where the child day care center is geographically located.

Description: The Colleges and Universities feature class/shapefile is composed of all Post Secondary Education facilities as defined by the Integrated Post Secondary Education System (IPEDS, http://nces.ed.gov/ipeds/), National Center for Education Statistics (NCES, https://nces.ed.gov/), US Department of Education for the 2016-2017 school year. Overall, this data layer covers all 50 states, as well as Puerto Rico and other assorted U.S. territories. This feature class contains all MEDS/MEDS+ as approved by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) Homeland Security Infrastructure Program (HSIP) Team. Complete field and attribute information is available in the ”Entities and Attributes” metadata section. Geographical coverage is depicted in the thumbnail above and detailed in the "Place Keyword" section of the metadata. This feature class does not have a relationship class but is related to Supplemental Colleges. Colleges and Universities that are not included in the NCES IPEDS data are added to the Supplemental Colleges feature class when found. This release includes the addition of 345 new records and modifications to the spatial location and/or attribution of 7175 records. The ADDRESS2 field, previously populated with NOT AVAILABLE, has been removed.

Description: This Private Schools feature dataset is composed of private elementary and secondary education facilities in the United States as defined by the Private School Survey (PSS, https://nces.ed.gov/surveys/pss/), National Center for Education Statistics (NCES, https://nces.ed.gov), US Department of Education for the 2015-2016 school year. This includes all prekindergarten through 12th grade schools as tracked by the PSS. This feature class contains all MEDS/MEDS+ as approved by NGA. Complete field and attribute information is available in the ”Entities and Attributes” metadata section. Geographical coverage is depicted in the thumbnail above and detailed in the Place Keyword section of the metadata. This release includes the addition of 3301 new records, modifications to the spatial location and/or attribution of 19127 records, and the retention of 8636 records from the previous PSS datasets that may or may not be closed (see STATUS field). The ADDRESS2 and DISTRICT_ID fields, previously populated with NOT AVAILABLE, have been removed. This feature class does not have a relationship class.

Description: This Public Schools feature dataset is composed of all Public elementary and secondary education facilities in the United States as defined by the Common Core of Data(CCD, https://nces.ed.gov/ccd/ ), National Center for Education Statistics (NCES, https://nces.ed.gov ), US Department of Education for the 2014-2015 school year. This includes all Kindergarten through 12th grade schools as tracked by the Common Core of Data. Included in this dataset are military schools in US territories and referenced in the city field with an APO or FPO address. DOD schools represented in the NCES data that are outside of the United States or US territories have been omitted. This feature class contains all MEDS/MEDS+ as approved by NGA. Complete field and attribute information is available in the ”Entities and Attributes” metadata section. Geographical coverage is depicted in the thumbnail above and detailed in the Place Keyword section of the metadata. This release includes the addition of 1830 new records and modifications to the spatial location and/or attribution of 100540 records. The ADDRESS2 field has been removed. Where applicable, values previously in ADDRESS2 have been concatenated to ADDRESS. This feature class does not have a relationship class.

Description: The Supplemental Colleges feature class/shapefile contains additional postsecondary education features that are not included in the National Center for Education(NCES) Integrated Post Secondary Education System (IPEDS). Included are Doctoral/Research Universities, Masters Colleges and Universities, Baccalaureate Colleges, Associates Colleges, Theological seminaries, Medical Schools and other health care professions, Schools of engineering and technology, business and management, art, music, design, Law schools, Teachers colleges, Tribal colleges, and other specialized institutions. Any results or conclusions based on the POPULATION, ENROLLMENT, and FTE values contained in this layer should be verified. Please see the ENROLLCALC attribute definitions for more information on enrollment. This feature class contains all MEDS/MEDS+ as approved by NGA. Complete feature class information is available in the “Entities and Attributes” metadata section for these and other field details. Geographical coverage is detailed in the Place Keyword section of the metadata and the thumbnail graphic above. This feature class does not have a relationship class but is related to Colleges and Universities by the IPEDS ID. This release includes updates to the TYPE and STATUS fields based on the current release of IPEDS on 2474 records. One (1) new record was added and 70 were removed as their parent records are no longer in the IPEDS data. The values of ADERESS and ADDRESS2 have been concatenated into the ADDRESS field; ADDRESS2 has been removed.

Description: Truck Driving Schools in the United States This dataset is composed of any type of Post Secondary Education facility such as: colleges, universities, technical schools, or trade schools that provide training and certification in the field of professional truck driving. This dataset does not include Administration Only locations. No entities located in American Samoa, the Northern Mariana Islands, or the Virgin Islands are included in this dataset. Text fields in this dataset have been set to all upper case to facilitate consistent database engine search results. All diacritics (e.g. the German umlaut or the Spanish tilde) have been replaced with their closest equivalent English character to facilitate use with database systems that may not support diacritics. The currentness of this dataset is indicated by the [CONTDATE] attribute. Based upon this attribute, the oldest record dates from 12/19/2006 and the newest record dates from 1/8/2007.
